“Colfax, Soul of Denver”

This mural was commissioned by the St. Charles Town Company, the owners of the historic Savageau Building at the corner of York Street and Colfax Avenue in East Denver. STCO wanted a mural to fill an empty space along a prime façade of the building that paid homage to the neighborhood, the building’s architectural heritage and Denver. Accordingly, “Colfax, Soul of Denver” makes use of trompe l’œuil, replicating the tiled storefront window frames along the building to create a scene where a window could be. With large scale columbine flowers and spruce branches, the mural makes nods to Colorado state symbolism, as well as the Denver Botanic Gardens down the block.
